“The Tunnel” is my biggest project to date - and perhaps the defining one. It is a full Arsenal-isation x Northbanksy style takeover of the North pedestrian tunnel under the rail bridge on Hornsey Road as you approach the Emirates stadium and Bear’s Roundabout from The Tolly.
Previous stencil graffiti I’d done in the tunnel area had never lasted long thanks to Islington Council’s street cleaning teams, and my efforts to mount plywood art panels around the bridge were stolen.
In 2023 I thought maybe I’d try something new and bigger than anything that had gone before. I did a very large scale mural of Mikel Arteta. And the council left it. And obviously nobody stole it either because it was on the side of a tunnel. So I did a Saka and Smith Rowe… and then I did William Saliba.
And the council left them all in place. So I did a poll on social media, should I fill the whole tunnel with giant Arsenal paintings? 98% voted that I should indeed fill the whole tunnel with giant Arsenal paintings.
So I filled the whole tunnel with giant Arsenal paintings and now it’s become a bit of a fixture and part of the match day experience — and it is FREE for everyone.
